On August 21, National Senior Citizens Day invites us to recognize the older adults who have shaped our families, workplaces and communities—and who continue to enrich them today.
Here are some stats you might not know:
- About 17.4% of the Indiana population is over age 65.
- Indiana is home to more than 300 independent living facilities.
- Over 1,000 senior living providers in Indiana.
In Indiana, more than one in three residents is age 50 or older. That represents more than 2.4 million Hoosiers, each carrying a lifetime of experiences, talents, memories and stories worth sharing. They are parents and grandparents, teachers and veterans, business owners and volunteers. They helped build the communities we now call home—and they remain a vibrant part of those communities. At Audiences Unlimited, we believe celebrating older adults means more than remembering what they have contributed. It means continuing to create opportunities for joy, connection and meaningful experiences today.
That is why live entertainment matters. A familiar song can bring back a treasured memory. A shared laugh can brighten an afternoon. A performance can transform a room of individuals into a community—singing, smiling and enjoying the moment together.
This National Senior Citizens Day, we celebrate the remarkable people living in senior communities throughout our region. We honor their stories, value their presence and remain committed to bringing more moments of music, laughter and connection into their lives.
Because every audience deserves to feel seen, celebrated and fully alive.
