Unlimited, Inc. brings joy to a dispirited environment.
It is the mission of Audiences Unlimited, Inc. (AUI) to
uplift, refresh, and inspire the lives of long-term care
residents by providing access to the cultural resources
of the greater community. The arts provide an excellent
outlet to bring enjoyment, relaxation, relief from pain,
and an opportunity to socialize and reminisce in the
healthcare environment. Participating in live
performances, particularly music, has a striking effect
on patients with Alzheimer's disease and dementia as
well.
Mission Statement:
Audiences Unlimited, Inc. enriches the quality of life
of residents in health/residential care facilities and
in subsidized independent living by providing cultural
resources that refresh and inspire mind, body and
spirit.
There are so many therapeutic benefits that come through
the arts. Participating Activity Directors state that
music helps residents feel more support. The live
entertainment is a welcome distraction from pain and
depression. Residents who have not spoken for months
will smile and sing when musicians enter their rooms.
AUI artists perform for the residents during the
critical stages of their lives. Offering a glimmer of
joy to someone who is suffering or nearing the end of
life’s journey is, to the artists, a deeply meaningful
experience. For AUI, these are commonly heard tributes-
residents enjoy a renewed sense of well-being and a
healthier quality of life.
